Mirrors are not only useful but also play an important role in the formation of energy within a space. As expounded in the ancient science of architecture of India, Vastu Shastra, mirrors can either enhance or disrupt the flow of positive energy within your home. Following the guidelines provided by Vastu to place your mirrors ensures your space promotes harmony, health, and prosperity.

1. Avoid Using Mirrors in the Bedroom: Mirrors should be kept with care in the bedroom. According to Vastu, mirrors that face the bed should be avoided as they might disturb your sleep and create restlessness. Sleep and the reflection image before the sleeper can bother the energy of a body, and this is likely to cause health problems also. If you have to keep a mirror in the bedroom, then it must be kept inside the wardrobe or closet door and pointing away from the bed.
2. Hang mirrors for the light and space: Mirrors are good for visual effects. They make small rooms appear larger and brighter. It is best to hang a mirror on the northern or eastern wall because it allows reflection of positive energy and natural light. Having mirrors reflect a view that is beautiful or pleasant, such as a plant or artwork, boosts positivity.
3. Mirrors not facing the main door: In Vastu, a mirror placed directly in front of the entrance door is considered a great evil. This position reflects all the good energy flowing into your residence, thus eliminating chances and positivity in work and financial success. Position a mirror in the hallway or on the wall opposite the door to reflect light without hindering energy flow.
4. Use Mirrors in the Living Room Rightly: Mirrors are one way to make living room walls move some light inside, making a space feel open. Mirrors on the north or east wall add natural energy; avoid placing them in a location where they reflect clutter, litter, or garbage.
